Should the hawks trade Trae Young and start a new rebuild?

Imo “heck no” they shouldn’t trade Trae Young, but things are far from being perfect.  This next coaching hire might be the most important coaching hire in this franchise history!  They need to get a coach that can unlock Trae and Dejounte playing off each other and maximize this roster!  All reports lean towards Quinn Snyder as the Hawks new head coach and he could come in during this season.  I personally want Ime Udoka, but Quinn is a solid pick up.

If the Hawks entertain trading Trae in the off season to start a rebuild it will be harder due to giving away their first round pick unconditionally for 2 out of the next 5 years and in 2026 is a  pick swap. So San Antonio controls the Atlanta hawks first round picks for 3 years for trading for dejounte! So let’s say the spurs get Victor Wenbanyama this season with their own pick and in 2023 (conditional hornets pick we got from the Knicks in the cam reddish trade) and then in 2025 and 2027 are the Atlanta Hawks unprotected first round picks.  The pick swap happens in 2026 that the spurs gets the better pick between the two teams!  Now mind you if they trade Trae Young there’s no way Dejounte stays in an Hawks lineup uniform.

So imo if we trade Trae Young we will be worst than a brand new franchise team. With The owner son placed in the front office with power could be a situation that we have someone playing nba 2k23 GM mode for the Hawks!  Rumor is the owner son pushed the Dejounte trade through and for a borderline all star talent it seems with the past coaching staff we didn’t improve this team from last season. I like dejounte, but his deal is starting to look as bad or worst than Rudy gobert tbh. 🤷🏽‍♂️  So what do you guys think?  Do you think the hawks should trade Trae Young or continue to build around him?  Please leave a comment below!
