Congratulations to Bogi for getting his paper as he and the Hawks have agreed to a four year extension for 68 million dollars! While I will never be mad at a player getting his money and bogi has been a good contributor to the hawks the past 3 seasons I can’t help to think about the Atlanta Hawks let Kevin huerter go for conditional pick from the kings. This seems like desperation extension since bogi is our best 3 point shooter on the roster. Or is he because imo they drafted bogi replacement this past season when the drafted AJ “buckets” Griffin.
In the first half of the season with the request of former team president Travis S coach Nate started to play Aj and he started to flourish. To the point that AJ was the only representative at the all star festivities as he was apart of the NBA Rising Stars game that traditionally is held with the top rookies and sophomores in the nba! Since the all star break coach Nate was fired and Coach Snyder doesn’t have AJ in his rotation at all. To the point bogi is playing a lot more under Quin Snyder. Now has Aj been pushed completely out of the hawks future plans? It would seem that way because from my understanding AJ was drafted to take Bogi place as instant offense off the bench when bogi left for free agency.
With this extension is signaling is tye negotiations with Dejounte Murray have hit an roadblock. Either Dejounte experience with this organization and our team isn’t working for him and he wants to test the free agent market or maybe the Hawks have buyers/traders remorse as Dejounte has not been what they envisioned when they spent 3 future first round picks for dejounte. With only one year left on Dejounte contract you would think Dejounte contract would be at the top of the priority list for the Hawks! Unfortunately with this extension for bogi signals that contract negotiations aren’t going well between the two parties!
We will keep a close eye on this situation as this could trickle down to Trae Young wanting to complete his contract as an Atlanta Hawks player. Will we sign Dejounte in the off season to an extension or will we trade him in the off season to get a better sg/sf wing that could fit with Trae Young better than Dejounte does at this moment!
