The Atlanta Falcons won this game with grit, heart, and a guy that is a Generational Talent as a running back in his rookie season. In this article we will list 10 keys to this victory! Good or bad we will talk about it all, so let’s get into this Armchair Observation!
1. Bijan Robinson is HIM! I have to admit I didn’t want to draft Bijan because I felt Tyler Allgeiers was a very good young talented RB and we needed Jalen Carter more on this team. With that said I love what Allgeiers brings to this team as a RB, but Bijan is just that dude. I have seen only one player in a falcons uniform on offense as elusive as Bijan is and that would be Mike Vick! Zero cap boys and girls. Bijan is the most elusive player since Mike Vick and he is making that number 7 look great! I also want to see Bijan get no less than 18 Carries and 4-5 pass attempts per game for the rest of his career as a Falcon player. He is a generational talent and we need to maximize his touches on the field!
2. Desmond Ridder had a shaky first half but his fourth qtr was the building block of a qb that showed GREAT leadership at the end of the game. His pocket presence was great when the pass wasn’t there he ran the ball to extend drives and even ran it in on a RPO play for the TD! He might not have the C on his chest to be a captain, but he showed real leadership today imo! He is growing as a player and as a fan that’s all we can ask tbh. I see improvement and I feel he will continue to improve throughout the season.
3. The defense as a whole played good throughout the game to win the game, but in the 4th qtr when the falcons needed the stops the defense forced punts! Great adjustments at halftime by defensive coordinator Ryan N and Jerry G! Old Falcons teams might have gave up another FG in the 4th qtr to extend the lead but this falcons team force punt after punt!
4. Shout out to Arthur Smith adjusting to the first game with the rushing attempts of Bijan and Tyler today! Or even better yet coach smith rode the hit hand with Bijan! I’m think coach Smith is still figuring out how to use all of these offensive toys Terry has drafted in his system. We did see some head scratching things during the game but overall he put players in positions to win and we got the DUB!
5. Great game by Mack Hollins on that high pointed catch on the flex flicker pass play! He also was robbed out of TD on that back of the end zone catch! He caught the ball with his hands with no movement and touched both toes inbounds before his heel hit the back line. That should have been a TD imo.
6. Better game from the offensive line in todays game in the 4th qtr in pass protection and great run blocking the entire game!he is still a work in progress on pass protection but McGary had a better game today than against the panthers! We can improve but this was a step in the right direction!
7. We still don’t have a consistent pass rush but in the 4tb qtr we started to send 5 or 6 and we made the green bay packer QB get nervous feet in the pocket. That made him rush some throws in the 4th qtr. Yes we want more sacks but QB pressures are just as important if they lead to incomplete passes.
8. I could feel the crowd energy through my tv so shout out to everyone that attending the game and gave the falcons your energy to comeback and win in the 4th qtr! It looked like the Benz was a home field advantage today!
9. I really hope Jeff Ukudah is back for the lions vs falcons game next week because I don’t want to see Tre flowers on an island again at cb2. If not please try dee Alford or or the rookie Clark Phillips III. It can’t be any worst tbh.
10. The elephant in the room is can Arthur Smith get Kyle Pitts involved in the offense or will he forever be a decoy and not the main option he was draft 4th in the draft to be for this falcons team? The way we are moving Bijan all around the formation is what I envisioned how we would have e used kyle pitts but that hasn’t been seen yet in production on the field yet. He might be our best decoy tbh. Only time will tell, but I’m wishing him the best.
It feel great to be 2-0 on the season and the next game is on the road against the Detroit Lions who lost at home to the Seahawks in overtime today! I can’t wait for next weeks game as the Falcons have a legit chance to be 3-0 next week!
